Centre for Energy and Environmental Economics Studies
On October 1–2, 2015, EUSP Department of Economics held the Fourth International Workshop on Natural Resources, Environment and Economic Growth.
The keynote speakers at the Workshop were Prof. Dr. Cees Withagen (VU University, Amsterdam, a world-renowned expert in the environmental economics and the international trade in natural resources) and Prof. Yuri Yatsenko (Houston Baptist University, author of more than 200 publications in the leading international journals). The scientific committee included Prof. Lucas Bretschger (Centre of Economic Research at ETH Zürich, President Elect of the European Association of Environmental and Resource Economists) and Prof. Alain Ayong Le Kama (EconomiX, University Paris Ouest — Nanterre La Défense, President of French Association of Environmental and Resource Economists).
Topics covered at the Workshop included mathematical modelling of sustainable development, economic analysis of environmental taxes, studies of human capital accumulation, and other applications of advanced economic theory to the field of natural resources, environment and growth.
The Workshop was organized jointly by the Centre for Energy and Environmental Economics Studies (CEEES) at the EUSP Department of Economics and Centre for Operations Research and Econometrics (CORE) at Université catholique de Louvain, Belgium.

The International Centre for Energy and Environmental Economics Studies (CEEES) activities include the development of contacts with Western colleagues for joint research and lectures for students. The CEEES organises International Workshop on Natural Resources, Environment and Economic Growth and publishes the CEEES Paper Series indexed by RePEc (Research Papers in Economics) and EconPapers.
The Centre is an institutional base for joint research projects in economics of oil, gas, energy, natural resource management, sustainable development and environment, climate economics, and other areas. These projects are generally implemented in the framework of the ExxonMobil Specialisation in Natural Resources and Energy Economics at the EUSP Department of Economics.
