Brian D. Taylor (Fulbright professor at IMARES)

International programs

Having a Fulbright at EUSP was a wonderful professional and personal experience for me.  I had been acquainted for some time with EUSP faculty like Vadim Volkov, Oleg Kharkordin, and Vladimir Gel’man through our mutual involvement in the Program on New Approaches to Research and Security in Eurasia (PONARS Eurasia).   I was thus delighted to receive a teaching Fulbright at EUSP.  The students in the IMARES program were generally outstanding – smart, hard-working, and knowledgeable.  The seven months at EUSP also gave me an opportunity to meet many of the staff of the Institute for the Rule of Law, who share similar research interests to mine.  The seven months spent in Petersburg in 2011 also was a great family experience, since my wife, Renee de Nevers, also received a Fulbright to teach at EUSP and we brought our (then) 9 year old twin boys with us.   We spent many weekends, as well as part of the summer, exploring St. Petersburg and the surrounding region.  I would highly recommend a Fulbright placement at EUSP for anyone in the relevant social science and humanities disciplines.
