Pierre Jouvellier (ENERPO, 2016)

International programs

After having completed my licence in France and my internship in London, I decided to study ENERPO program in the Russian Federation at the European University. Through this year, I have considerably improved my knowledge about Oil & Gas geopolitics and economy, but I also learned a lot about the Russian Civilisation and Language. During my academic year, I had the opportunity to assist many interesting conferences with fascinating topics related to Oil & Gas. My speciality was natural gas, especially LNG transportation issues, all the professors were extremely helpful and very clever. The classes provided by them gave me a very clear and understandable knowledge about the fossil-fuel sector. Whether the topics were about Geopolitics or Economy, all the teachers helped me a lot to build a solid comprehension of what are the energy issues in Eurasia. In this program, you will learn all the different concepts related to energy & politics. Energy Security will provide you a clear view on Geopolitics, international relations, governance, and Russian politics, WOGA will train you to write about what you learned, Evolution of Oil & Gas markets and political economy will help you to understand commercial/economical principles and tools that we use to set a price on energy commodities. All the classes I had were extremely useful in order to build a solid culture related to the energy sector.

Besides, I also have to say that this year was for me the best experience that I had in my life, I really enjoyed everything, I can even say that Russia, especially St Petersburg is the new Paris. The city is beautiful during all the seasons and of course, you can move to different other nice places in Russia such as Yaroslavl (place of the Russian Sour), Ekaterinburg, or Moscow. Russia is not only a country, it is one of the most beautiful civilizations in the world with a great History and clever people. By studying in Solzhenitsyn’s country, I reached a new political perception, especially regarding Atlanticism and Continentalism. Now I know more about Russia, and even if I have to go back to France next year, my love story with this infinite nation is far to be finished. Thus, if you are currently hesitating about studying in Russia, I hope my testimonial will help you to make a good choice.
